BEHIND THE FOLD

2025 Collection/

A Celebration of the Era That Changed Everything

Since 2016, I've been on this wild journey with paint — figuring out how to make it fold, stand, and catch light in ways it was never supposed to. What started as pure curiosity evolved into something that has completely changed how I see beauty and what paint can express.

After 9 years of playing with paint in this sculptural way, I'm releasing my final collection of 12 pieces. This feels like the right moment to celebrate what's been an incredible journey of curiosity and patience.

How it all started

Back then, I just wanted to play. Could paint stand up? Did it need structure, a canvas, or could it fold on its own? Could it become sculptural without adding anything else? That curiosity led me down this path where I discovered that with the right temperature, timing, and an embarrassing amount of patience, paint could become something entirely new.

These pieces can take forever to make. Some have been sitting in my studio for over 6 months, waiting for the right moment to make the next move. Each one needs hundreds of different steps, and between each step I have to wait—sometimes a full day—before I can continue. It's honestly a bit ridiculous how time-consuming it is, but that patience is what makes each piece special. I'm crazy, or adventurous and probably a little of both. ;-)

What makes this collection different

I'm all about exploring the new. That's what drives me as an artist—finding those uncharted spaces where materials and colours can do unexpected things.

Here's the truth — what began as a genuine exploration from key artists (myself included) has now become recognizable as a "folded look" that others have begun to replicate. That's the natural cycle of art and innovation. But this final collection for me holds something that can't be copied: years of quiet experimentation, countless failed attempts, and the knowledge that only comes from truly understanding a process from the inside out.

These 12 pieces represent the culmination of everything I've learned about making paint defy its own nature. They contain all the technical knowledge I've gathered over the years about heat, timing, and how paint moves when you ask it to. And while the visual language may look familiar now, the depth of understanding embedded in each piece is what sets them apart.

Moving forward

This collection marks both an ending and a beginning. For those who've collected my work from this series before—thank you for being part of this evolution. Your support allowed me to push these boundaries further than I ever expected.

For those just discovering it—this is your opportunity to own a piece created by someone who developed it from pure curiosity since 2017. Each piece captures a moment in time that can't be recreated.

And if you're curious about what's next? I've been hard at work for the last 8 months exploring entirely new territories. Because at the end of the day, I'm in this art game for the constant discovery—for finding what's next, what's possible, what hasn't been done yet. That curiosity isn't going anywhere.

Thanks for being here, Michele

This collection has been created from a personal story.

Inspired by 🌊 A Note to Self 〰️

“Just breathe and take it all in. Everything is working for you.”

If I could turn back time, I'd tell my younger self about the wild adventures waiting beyond her wildest dreams. I'd tell her of far away places that feel like home, reminding her to take in every moment. All of it. 〰️

I would tell her the best adventures happen on quiet beaches, where the sky stretches into endless shades of blue, and warm sand grounds the soul. Here, the waves gently rock away life's stresses. The expansive sky immerses and comforts with a sense of wonder. The horizon opens to lands unseen, fading into the distance. The rugged sandstone cliffs of Montana have followed me to the soft, hot sands of the sea. It’s simply divine.

Just B R E A T H E and take it all in. 〰️
